Full Day

Today was a little bit of necessary, and a little bit of fun. Our morning started with laundry. Actually, laundry started last night with diapers and continued this morning with our clothes. The toughest part about keeping up with laundry around here? No dryer. That means I pretty much always have to be at least a full day ahead of things, because it takes a full day for things to dry. Or longer, in the case of diaper inserts. But you know, there are very few things cuter than a rack full of baby laundry (even when your baby is the size of a two-year-old):

Nai Nai knows me too well - she got red clothespins just for me.

And hey, even laundry can be a little bit exciting when it's drying in front of an open window, looking out onto the courtyard of a historic building, in the middle of Berlin!

But I know y'all didn't come to see Gav's laundry hanging out. And I promise my day did actually get more exciting than this. We spent the afternoon walking around Wilmersdorfer Strasse - a long walking street with lots of cafes and shopping, right around the corner from our apartment.  We stopped partway through the day for some gelato, and Gav joined in too. So I guess I can get even cuter than baby laundry - the baby is pretty sweet himself!

There was some really good people watching this afternoon. And dog watching - there were dogs everywhere! Including on the cafe patios and in stores. I could get along here. The dogs were all much better behaved than mine, though, so they might struggle a bit.

Love my little international traveler! So that's how we spent the 4th of July - shopping in Germany. Awesome.

For those of you praying for us, keep Gav's sleeping schedule on your list for the next few days. I've been up for a couple hours in the middle of both nights so far (and got no sleep on the plane over), and I could use a full night's rest. Gavrel went down without fussing for the first time tonight, so I'm hoping that's a good omen for him sleeping through the night tonight.

How have you guys been celebrating on your side of the pond?
