In July, we will hit one year that we've been in our apartment. We're happy to say that we'll be able to stay at least another year - and not have to pack up again already. Given that we're staying put, we decided to try our hand at a little patio gardening (or "pot gardening" as I like to jokingly call it). We're starting small: tomatoes, zucchini, and strawberries. We'll see what does well in pots, what doesn't, and re-evaluate for next time. So far I haven't killed anything - which is an accomplishment, given that I've done next to zero gardening.

Another goal is to show Gavrel where food comes from and how plants grow. No, he doesn't completely understand all of it at 13 months, but it's a start. He does, however, LOVE to "garden." He loves to feel the dirt, walk back and forth between the three pots, dig in the pots with the little plant tags, and touch the plants. He's very good at being gentle with them and I'm pretty sure he would stay out there for hours if we let him. He's always very heartbroken to have to come back inside.

He's very intent on digging just right!

What an awfully sweet little gardener!
