Seven Months

Yesterday, Gavrel turned 7 months old.

 What are you doing, Mommy?

Hey! I want to hold the camera!

Like my socks?

Here's what we've been up to this month:

  • Crawling. I know I haven't posted any new videos in a while. The truth is, Gavrel can crawl, he just doesn't much care to. He would much rather sit up, stand up, or be held. We've caught him crawling a couple of times, but never with the camera around, and he gets sick of it pretty quickly. He seems intent on skipping straight to walking.
  • Babbling. Gavrel is definitely starting to talk to us! He makes all kinds of noises, responds when you talk to him, babbles to himself if you're not talking to him, and giggles at himself sometimes.
  • Pulling up/standing. Gav can pull himself up using the crib railing, though he still finds it hard to pull up on a flat surface (like a table). He can hold himself up, though, if you stand him against a table or other flat surface.
  • Getting to sitting. More often than not, when we go to get him out of bed in the morning, Gav is already sitting up.
  • Playing alone. If we set him down on the floor or in his crib with a few toys, he will play by himself for quite a while - upwards of 20-30 minutes sometimes (well, we usually have to push his toys closer to him a few times in that span, but that's not much to ask compared to what we can accomplish while he's happily occupied.
  • Eating. He's never had a bite of baby food, but he's pretty happy to eat just about anything off our plates. He even went on a lunch date with me this week and sat very nicely in a high chair, eating bites of my meal for over an hour. Definitely doesn't seem to be much chance this Monkey will be a picky eater.
  • Teeth! Ever one to squeeze things in at the end of a month, Gavrel got his third tooth on Friday. The top left front chomper is in.
  • Trick-or-Treating. Ok, so I know this isn't a developmental milestone, but it was fun! We went out with some friends from church, and Gavrel made it up to a few doors. He thought reaching into the bowls of candy to pick out his own was great, a bite of chocolate was pretty cool, but having a sucker was it! He thought that as the coolest thing ever, and he could eat the whole thing by himself (supervised, of course, but we didn't have to help him). Mommy and Daddy might have gotten some candy out of the deal, too. :-)
  • Shoes. Also not a milestone, but we started wearing shoes this month. Mostly just because Gavrel likes to pull his socks off. I decided it was getting a little chilly to be outside without socks. So the shoes are really just sock insurance. Although, now that he's standing, it might not be a bad thing anyway.
It's be a pretty exciting month! As always, it's fun to watch him grow up so quickly, but sad to watch him grow up so quickly! I love watching him learn, but just want him to be my baby forever.
