Just Things

Gavrel decided this week was a good time to start taking naps. Real naps. Like, three-hour-long naps in the afternoons. I'm not really even sure what to do with myself. I've never been so on top of dishes as I have been the last couple of days.

I ordered a box of bumGenius diaper detergent the other day. I think it's supposed to come today, maybe. I did a bunch of reading, and I'm excited to try it out. I'm hoping it will work really well AND help our diapers last longer in better condition. I want them to make it through a few kids yet.

I had hoped that our dogs would get used to living in civilization again after a while, but that was apparently wishful thinking. Nellie's not too bad, actually. She has learned the word "kitty" and loves to show you where said "kitty" lives - on the deck below ours. Benni is sure there is always someone outside of our door just waiting to attack me. In an apartment complex this size, it's probably true - that there's almost always someone outside, not that they're going to attack me. He's quite vocal about his disdain for this situation. It's a good thing there are a lot of dogs around here. Lowers the change that someone will be annoyed by ours.

Jonny came home for lunch on Friday. He worked at one place in the morning, came home to eat with us, and then went to work somewhere else. I didn't hear him come in the door. I was in the laundry room off of the kitchen when I heard a man talking to Gavrel in his high chair. I think my heart stopped momentarily. Once I caught my breath again, though, it was a nice surprise. I pretty much always enjoy spending time with Jonny.

I really am dreading the day that Gavrel is weaned. Actually, I'm just dreading the day he starts baby food at all. I need to do some research on extended nursing. I've heard of people doing it, but I really don't know much about it. I like the sounds of it, though. Anyone out there have experience?

Jonny and I are starting a small group for young couples at our church. They've been trying to talk us into starting one since, well, since we got married. We finally caved. There already are some, but we recently saw that there was need for more and decided it was a good time to step up. It'll be a new adventure. One we tackle together - not just side-by-side.

So, that's just things around here.
