Good, Better, Best

Good: Figuring out how to do laundry without a washer or dryer.

Better: Buying a (working!) washing machine for $10 at a garage sale.

Best: Pulling a (working!) dryer out of the apartment complex dumpster enclosure for FREE.

Walking the dogs a couple days ago, I saw that there was a dryer out by the dumpster. It looked pretty new, so I mentioned it to Jon. He wasn't convinced. People don't just throw away dryers without a good reason, right? But then he was walking the dogs later and agreed that it looked pretty nice. He finally figured that there are only so many things that can go wrong on a dryer - any of which are significantly cheaper than buying a new dryer.

Worst case scenario - it's doesn't work and we take it back to the dumpster.

So Jonny and our friend Alex borrowed a hand truck last night and pulled it up to our laundry room and plugged it in. It turns on, it spins, and it heats up - if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... Right? (And who doesn't love ducks?!) We haven't run a full load through it yet - it needs a longer cord and a vent hose - but barring something going horribly wrong when we do, it looks like we just pulled a free dryer out of the garbage!

And for those of you who remember this blonde moment: yes, I have figured out how to turn it on. :-)
