Treasured Up and Pondered

While pregnant with Gavrel, we were so blessed to have so many people pray over us and him and give us glimpses of the man that my little Monkey will grow into (even though we didn't know he was a man yet!).

The two single most-repeated themes were that Gavrel would be a prophet of God, and a worshiper of God. These were independently repeated enough that we really took them to heart. We even chose his name to mean "worshiper of God" and the verse we dedicated him with is Psalm 57:9-10 -
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
We could definitely see the worshiper side of him in utero, because church and music were his favorite things!

But once in a while I catch a glimpse of the prophetic Gavrel, too.

Sunday morning he woke up at about 8:45 am. I could hear him on the monitor, so I started getting up to go get him. By the time I was ready to go in there, though, he was quiet. I thought "surely he hasn't put himself back to sleep at this time of morning" (which he's been known to do - just usually much earlier). But sure enough, he stayed quiet. So I went to the kitchen and made myself breakfast and did a few other things. Finally, I needed to get him ready for church and decided I would just have to wake him up. As I stuck my head into his room, I saw one of the sweetest sights:

Gavrel was laying in his bed, two fingers in his mouth, just staring at the sunshine coming in through the blinds on his window. There was an incredible, peaceful presence tangible in his room, and I could just sense that he was totally having a sacred moment with God. I felt like I was interrupting!

The moment soon passed and my Monkey Man looked up at me, grinned, squealed, and we started our day. But, like Mary, this will be a glimpse of my son that I will treasure up and ponder in my heart for a long time.

very beautiful, thanks for sharing.
