Moving Out

After two action-packed, wonderful years of being on staff at Two Rivers Church in Knoxville, my time here is coming to an end along with the week. As I'm sitting here contemplating cleaning out my desk - it's a little sad. I'm looking around at all things I've accumulated in my cubicle over the last couple of years, and they're all reminders. Some examples:

My class pictures. I used to put this up in my classroom when I was teaching too. It's a copy of all my school pictures, K-12. It's fun to watch students find their grade to see what I looked like back then.

Olivia. Oh, Olivia... Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Olivia the pig is my favorite children's book - I just love her! She reminds me a bit of myself as a little girl. I keep the book and the stuffed version of the main character on my desk - both as a reflection of me and as a distraction for when little kids come into the office. :-)

Photo booth pictures. My small group started a tradition this year of taking photo booth pictures with me. I have a line-up of eight of them across my desk. They're all goofy - and they all remind me how much I love those girls!

Nalgene water bottle. Ok, ok... This isn't unique to my office. In fact, it goes everywhere with me. But the big Ohio State logo does make me smile when I think of how staunchly I've refused to conform to the mass UT hysteria running rampant around here!

Chinese bookends. These guardians on either side of my picture frames, and they remind me of both my amazing trip to China this past year, as well as our future there. They help me remember that my adventure is not ending with this week. Rather, we'll take all the things we have learned and experienced by fulfilling the 2RC mission statement to multiply this lifestyle globally.

My desk is both a fun, emotional reminder of my past, as well as an exciting glimpse of our future. I can't wait to see what's coming.
