China Reflections: FOOD!

I LOVE pepperoni pizza - pretty much always have. When I was younger, I always figured that I would grow into a more sophisticated, adult-like favorite food. It never happened.


But while in China, I discovered something that is quickly gaining the momentum to potentially overcome my cravings for pizza: Jiaozi (dumplings). Whether on the street, in a hole-in-the-wall, or a nice hotel restaurant, these little packages of goodness quickly won my tummy's love in all settings.

I figure hey, being filled with meat and vegetables, they're probably better than a lot of other munchies I could fall in love with, right?

I also really enjoyed street food (I know what you're thinking, and no, I didn't get sick). We were warned ahead of time about the "three P's": peeled, piping hot, and pre-packaged foods are safe to eat - stay away from everything else. With those guidelines in mind, I dove right in! Restaurant food was my friend as well - lots of meat and veggies!

I have always craved Asian food anyway, but now I'm hooked. I'm really looking forward to switching my normal ratio of Asian to western food once we move - and my husband is glad to hear it!

And in the mean time, the local Asian market has a pretty good selection of frozen jiaozi to satisfy my cravings.
