In Sickness and In... Blonde Moments!

Anyone else out there had the flu this season? I worked my way through this unpleasant experience a couple weeks ago, and I'll just say I'm glad to be on this side of it.

I did discover in the process that being sick apparently enhance the blonde effect:

I was home from work for a day, and had been sleeping for most of it. I got up for a little while in the middle of the day and managed to spill something all over myself in that time. So I threw my sweats in the washer, started a load, and got some new sweats. I went back to bed shortly after that.

I got up again when Jon came home from work, but was ready for bed again shortly afterward - this time for the night. I went to set the alarm on my cell phone, but couldn't find it. "That's strange," I thought. "It's been in my pocket all day. Maybe it fell out in the bed." Nope. "Maybe it fell out in the couch cushions." Nope.

Jon offered to call my phone from his, and promptly let me know that it had gone straight to voicemail. But it had a full battery - there was no way it would have died. I was completely baffled - it had been in the pocket of my sweatpants all day. (Have you guessed where this is going yet?) All of a sudden, I realized that I hadn't had the same pair of sweatpants on all day.

I walked into the bathroom where Jon was brushing his teeth. "Uh oh," I said. "What?" he asked. Sure enough, I reached into the washing machine and pulled out my clean, but extremely dead phone. I was just in such a hurry to get my laundry thrown in that I didn't realize my phone was still in my sweats pocket.

So, thanks to insurance, I now have a replacement phone and a good story. Unfortunately, though, I have almost no phone numbers. So, if you have my number, please call or text me in the near future so I can save your number into my new phone!

And remember that the flu multiplies the effects of blonde! :-)
