Overflow

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7

Late last night, in my sleeplessness, I was thinking through life, work, relationships... all those big things that we live with daily. And I was suddenly filled with an overwhelming sense of love and thankfulness that I just wanted to spill out on everyone.

Rather than my usual devotional routine, I took time to just let that love and thankfulness overflow in a written prayer of praise. I spent the next hour scribbling six pages of thanks and love and praise out to my Father for anything that came to mind - people, circumstances, faithfulness, plans, love, promises, faithfulness... it just welled up inside of me and poured out into my journal.

It was incredibly refreshing and renewing! Often my journals are lists of my day or things that I've learned, observations, prayer requests, desires - and those things are important, too. They have helped me to embrace the discipline of journaling in a way I've never been able to in the past. But last night I made a point of not asking or wondering or taking, but just letting love and thanks spill out.

I highly recommend it!
